WHERE IT STARTED

Before the job titles.

My journey in technology started while I was still completing my Computer Science degree. I worked as a computer technician while studying, supporting users and learning how business technology worked outside the classroom.

The work grew into laying UTP network cabling, installing company servers, supporting day-to-day operations, and running nighttime data-processing workloads on Clipper-based systems—including indexing and preparing daily sales information from departments for management reporting.

I studied during the day and worked with real systems after hours. That hands-on beginning became the foundation for everything that followed: teaching Computer Science, web development, entrepreneurship, enterprise software, FinTech, technical leadership, and now AI-assisted engineering.

CAREER JOURNEY

20+ years. Several technology eras. Still learning.

A career doesn't have to be a straight line. Mine has crossed teaching, entrepreneurship, consulting, enterprise engineering, FinTech, and technical leadership.

2023—Present

FinTech & Technical Leadership

Senior Full-Stack Developer, serving primarily in a Lead Developer capacity. Focused on technical direction, architecture, engineering quality, delivery, and modern AI-assisted development.

2017—2023

Senior Engineering & Consulting

Software Consultant at QNET, Inc followed by Senior Development Engineer at Encora, building and maintaining production software systems across network marketing and global transport and logistics.

2007—2016

Enterprise Software, Leadership & Entrepreneurship

Engineering across banking, professional services, e-commerce, hospitality and manufacturing, plus a second entrepreneurial chapter as Developer / Co-Founder of Trisolution.

2000—2006

Teaching, Web Development & First Startup

Computer Science Instructor at AMA Computer Learning Center, then Web Developer / Co-Founder of ITfamilyCorp, Inc., an early Cebu-based web-development outsourcing company.

SOFTWARE ENGINEERING IN THE AI ERA

AI can generate code.
Engineers still own the outcome.

My workflow has increasingly shifted from manually producing every implementation toward directing AI-assisted development: defining intent, architecture and constraints; reviewing generated solutions; enforcing engineering standards; validating behavior through tests; and making sure what reaches production remains understandable and maintainable.

I see this as an evolution of the engineer's role—from primarily producing code to increasingly designing, directing, validating and owning software systems.

I never saw management as the only definition of career growth.

I chose to stay close to engineering—building systems, solving technical problems, guiding teams, and continuously adapting as technology changed.

Some developers became managers.
I became the guy reviewing code written by robots. 🤖

Different path. Same goal: build good software.

Engineer → Builder → ??? → ???

The story isn't finished yet.

I've co-founded businesses before, spent decades growing as an engineer, and I'm still building, experimenting and learning. The next chapter is still being written.
